Dance Reading and The Place bring two incredible performances to Jelly's Open for Art festival this year, dedicated to the joy of playing.
'You Too Can Tutu’ by Gandini Juggling
Brought to you by internationally renowned circus and movement company Gandini Juggling’s You Too Can Tutu is Gandini's first-ever children’s show, blending the grace of ballet with the playful precision of juggling.
With a vibrant palette inspired by Bauhaus and Kandinsky, You Too Can Tutu bursts into life through celebratory hyper-color and slapstick silliness. Colourful pointe shoes synchronize with hyper-coloured balls of varying sizes, creating mesmerizing patterns and shapes that dance across the stage. The visual spectacle is a playful homage to modern art and geometric abstraction, adding another layer of creativity to this lively fusion of juggling and ballet.
‘the album: skool edition’ by SAY
the album: skool edition is a joyous show about two friends playing and making up dances in their playground, getting audiences to move, groove, and clap along
SAY was born from Sarah Golding and Yukiko Masui’s ambition to rediscover the creativity that can get lost through formal training and to challenge the elitism sometimes associated with contemporary dance. Combining fast-paced and slick contemporary dance routines to exciting new music, including tracks with UK beatbox champion MC Zani and alternative pop artist Naomi Banks, the album: skool edition is an interactive dance piece created specifically for families to interact with and enjoy.
Both shows last 20 minutes and both perform at 12 - 1pm, and again at 2 - 3pm.
Free, interactive and suitable for the whole family
Commissioned in partnership with The Place as part of the Playground Tour 2025
