Details

This grand Victorian mansion, standing elegantly on Banbury Road, has welcomed guests since its conversion to a hotel in 1973, offering a peaceful retreat within a conservation area. Inside, the Cotswold Lodge Hotel reveals refined, eclectic rooms, with some luxurious Feature rooms individually decorated and named after Oxford Colleges, blending period character with modern comforts. Its history as a Victorian villa lends a unique charm, providing an authentic Oxford experience just a ten-minute walk or a short bus ride from the bustling city centre and the iconic university colleges. The attentive staff are frequently praised for their helpfulness, contributing to the warm and inviting atmosphere that makes this family-run establishment a distinctive choice for visitors.

Beyond the characterful accommodation, the hotel features the award-winning Restaurant 66A, noted for its classic British and European cuisine, with some ingredients sourced from the owner's farm. Guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, or dinner in the restaurant, the cosy Scholars Bar with its winter log fire, or, in finer weather, the patio and courtyard. The convenience of free on-site parking is a significant advantage in Oxford, making arrivals smoother and offering a great base for exploring both the city's historic sites – like the Ashmolean Museum and Bodleian Library – and the picturesque Cotswolds further afield. With 24-hour room service and free WiFi, every need is catered for, ensuring a comfortable and memorable stay.

Perfect location. Great staff. Great breakfast. Small incredibly stuffy rooms with now airflow and no way to cool them down.
