Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and was highly satisfied. As it's old, my single room was a bit small, but I found it more cozy than cramped so quite comfortable. The staff were extremely pleasant, upon arrival I was offered a coffee and primer about nearby attractions. Daily breakfast was fine and a good way to start the morning. The location is very nice. It's about a 20 minute walk to the city center and to Jericho with multiple bus lines nearby if you want to skip the walk. So many neat places nearby. Was pleased to find a lovely neighborhood pub a few blocks away, too, out of the highly travelled areas. Overall, a very positive experience and stay.

I came for an alumni reunion during the weekend. The hotel is clean, well-maintained, and classic English-style, which I wanted. Worth money-value.
The breakfast facility is cute, small but comfortable and with a good an acceptable food variatey. The breakfast room is facing a lovely garden, which hosts a friendly cat around ❤️🐱 and is comfy furnished.
No doubt I'd come again next time!

Nice and cozy hotel a short walk from the city centre. Breakfast is okay and facing the back garden very peacefully.

The hotel is a small charming hotel in a historic building. The rooms are spacious, newly refurbished and tastefully decorated.
My room was on the second floor (no lift) and had a large modern bathroom. The only small drawback is the noise from the street, which however at night is not too busy.
The location is convenient to central/north Oxford. The breakfast is a bit minimalist, but still sufficient. I am satisfied with my experience and will return in the future.

The hotel is lovely – beautiful garden with squirrels, gorgeous room, fun games, kind staff, and a nice simple breakfast. Only 15–20 minutes from Oxford centre. We truly loved it and would’ve given 5 stars.

But we made a small mistake: booked Sunday–Tuesday instead of Monday–Wednesday. A few hours later, the hotel called us. We explained the situation and asked to amend the booking or receive a refund. They said, “If Expedia agrees, we’ll do it.” Expedia did agree and confirmed we just needed the hotel’s approval.

But then... the hotel changed their mind. They refused both refund and date change – even though we acted quickly, the room stayed empty, and the process could’ve easily been handled. What really disappointed us is that they charged the full amount instead of applying a penalty or partial fee.

This wasn’t just about money – it was about how they handled it. Hospitality is meant to be about care, flexibility, and treating guests with kindness. That was missing here. For a 4-star hotel, we expected more understanding and basic customer service.

So sadly, even though the hotel itself was perfect, we’re giving only 2 stars.
