Do not stay at this hotel if you want a decent nights sleep. It's very basic & in urgent need of an update. The front entrance hall stunk of sewage. In the room the curtains were hanging off, wardrobe was about to fall apart, the hairdryer worked for less than 5 seconds (but was replaced quickly when mentioned to reception) and the bathroom was tiny. No AC in the room and the noise from the pubs, bars and traffic was horrendous. Nightlife only calmed down around 3am and the traffic ramped up at 5am so not much sleep was had. Bed was OK and sheets clean, thankfully. The only saving grace for The George Hotel, Oxford is how convenient it is to walk into central Oxford. We arrived by train and hotel is about 10 min walk so no parking issues for us but wouldn't recommend or stay here again.

This is barely a 2 stars hotel while they are claiming to be 3 stars. The bed is solid as rock. The toilet doesn't flush (thankfully we noticed before leaving an unwanted gift in it). The shower door was broken making it impossible to take a shower. There were molds on the wall. Location is great. We paid 140£ per night, this is worth about £60

A hotel which was very conveniently located in the city.
The room was was very clean and toiletries provided including shower caps.
A generous supply of coffee and tea and also biscuits provided
Staff were very pleasant.
There was noise at night outside which was only to be expected though in a city and especially as a Friday night when we stayed.
There are several good pubs near which was ideal for breakfast and meals.
Also near the Oxford canal where there is a lovley walk.

Would not stay here again. Staff member seemed friendly but inside hotel is run down, dirty water from drains rising into our shower when the neighbouring room was using their shower and the stench when this happened. Also the shower panel kept falling off. Seemed clean but could do with renovation and serious money being spent to bring it up to standard. Shame as it is in a great location. Room was also very hot and outside road was very loud.
