Crown House

The room was ok, nice and clean. But the pillows were insanely massive and hard. I woke up in pain several times and had to ditch them. The location is good - I love Cowley road. One star for service because you do everything yourself.

We had such a lovely stay here and are really grateful to Mateen and Maissa for how kind, welcoming, and accommodating they were throughout our visit. They genuinely went above and beyond to make sure everything was comfortable and easy for us which made the whole experience feel really personal. The room was spotless and the shower was particularly nice!! The location is perfect with loads of great diverse food nearby and the centre is only a 20 min walk! Thank you again, we’d happily stay here again :)

My wife and I stayed at Crown House Hotel for two nights. Our room was very modern yet super comfy, with all new facilities. We loved having a fridge for the weekend to store drinks and a microwave to reheat our food . The large slanted ceiling windows made the room sunny and bright, and the TV was perfect for a takeaway and movie night in.

The location is excellent, as there were plenty of restaurants and takeaways with diverse cuisines nearby. It’s a 20-minute walk from Oxford city centre, and there’s a bus stop right on the main road, making it very easy to get around.

Highly recommended for a relaxing and convenient stay!

We spent 3 nights in the Crown House hotel (room 3) and will never go back. Walking distance to Oxford city, but that is the only positive point about this place. Small room with no windows, very claustrophobic and extremely hot. Could barely breathe due to the heat and lack of oxygen (and it was May, not even summer). Fan was dusty and broken. Also extremely noisy, you could hear everyone in the other rooms, every conversation, every flush, every shower… The third night, a loud alarm sound went off at around 5am and continued until 8am. Without earplugs, we would not have closed an eye. Horrible experience, do not stay here

This place is so Noisy!
We could hear the neighbours TV, coughing, snoring, brushing their teeth - everything! Every movement around the corridors can also be heard in the rooms.
We stayed on a tuesday night and even the street noise was very loud until after 1am with the street crossing, loud cars, motorbikes and mopeds heard even with the windows closed, followed by more noise/shouting at 3-4am, then building works inside and heavy plant works outside both began before 8am, which we had no warning of!

In the room, the fridge was noisy, the water pressure was unstable (so one second the water is dribbling, followed by it shooting out of the sink and soaking you!), and the sink leaked from underneath too. I would not describe the room as clean, with dirty glasses and mugs being especially off putting. The toilet flush was broken, the sink plug was stuck, there was a hole in the wall, and we didn't want to use the shower as it looked so dirty. And the bathroom bins arent emptied between visits.

The quilt cover didn't fit the quilt, and there was only ONE flat pillow per person, though the mattress was lovely and firm.
There is no aircon and heating is only via radiators. The fan was so dusty i couldnt bring myself to turn it on even though it was very warm, even in March. There was no mirror in the room, only in the bathroom, with no surfaces to place things and no plug nearby. There was also only 1 teabag in a double room and very little toilet roll provided. The bedside lamps didn't work very well. There were broken hangers left on the floor too, with not enough left for use.

For a similar price, you can stay in much nicer locations locally, though they are a little further out. If you are looking for a cheap room with easy access to the O2 and a 30 minute walk to the center, and you dont mind the above, this place might be fine for you.

Service was very friendly and helpful. Location within reasonable walking distance into town but plenty of buses if you don’t feel like it. Cowley Road is a very eclectic mix of shops cafes and bars. Room a good size we had an additional bed for a young child.

Very clean room with a comfortable bed. However the shower had almost no water pressure in the morning, and was cold. I showered on arrival and it was hot so I don’t know how reliable it really is, but the staff was otherwise very helpful and solved my only major concern right off the bat.

Perfect for both short and long-term stays! Conveniently located near the city center, right on Cowley Road, with plenty of grocery stores, local shops, and restaurants nearby. The management team is fantastic—always responsive and easy to communicate with. Thank you! I’ll definitely be returning in the future.

I have visited this hotel on multiple occaisions and can say the staff are extremely welcoming, The rooms are modern and comfortable and the location is one of the best in Oxfordshire
