A 15th-century manor of honey-hued stone, nestled in the Oxfordshire village of Great Milton, is the enchanting setting for Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons. This historic house, now a Belmond Hotel, masterfully blends its centuries-old charm with luxurious, modern comforts, offering 32 individually designed rooms and suites, each reflecting the travels and inspirations of its renowned patron. From the moment you arrive, stepping onto a stone path that winds through verdant lawns, you are enveloped in an atmosphere of serene elegance. The experience is one of understated opulence, where open fires warm honey-hued interiors in winter, and every detail is thoughtfully curated to create a timeless escape, making it an ideal base for exploring the picturesque surroundings or simply indulging in a tranquil retreat.
The heart and soul of Le Manoir is undoubtedly its world-renowned gastronomy, a vision brought to life by celebrated chef Raymond Blanc OBE. For an incredible 40 consecutive years, the restaurant has proudly held two Michelin stars, a testament to its unwavering pursuit of culinary perfection and an achievement that places it amongst the global elite. Much of the exquisitely fresh, organic produce that graces the seasonally inspired menus is cultivated within the hotel's own impressive two-acre kitchen garden, which boasts 90 types of vegetables and 70 varieties of herbs. Guests can delve deeper into this "garden-to-plate" philosophy at The Raymond Blanc Cookery School or the Gardening School, gaining insights into the creation of these exceptional dishes and sustainable cultivation.

We headed to dinner, opted for the tasting menu and the classic wine pairing. We were shown to our table and had the most amazing meal! The selection of breads were mouth watering, I wish I could have the bacon bread again! The flavours, the quality of ingredients and presentation were outstanding. My favourite was the roasted duck liver apple tarte, stuffed morel and the coconut dessert. The service and explanation of each dish was great and overall we had the best evening. Breakfast was also incredible, so fresh, lovely choice of cold buffet and pastries and also a cooked full English. We were very sad to leave! Could not fault anything or anyone! The service from each member of staff was truly amazing, thank you chefs for the amazing food, and thank you Beth for making it memorable. Can’t wait to visit again, and also see Bilbo (the cat).
