Nestled within the historic Mitre pub on Oxford's High Street, Gusto Italian offers a contemporary Sicilian dining experience just a stone's throw from the iconic Radcliffe Camera. The beautifully refurbished interior of this 15th-century building blends its historic character, complete with cosy nooks and original fireplaces, with modern, elegant décor, warm lighting, and an open kitchen. Here, you can indulge in a wide array of Italian-inspired dishes, from traditional pastas and risottos to char-grilled meats and, of course, authentic stone-baked pizzas crafted in a high-temperature Italforni oven. Whether you're stopping by for a morning coffee, a relaxed brunch, or an evening of sophisticated dining with unique cocktails, the friendly atmosphere makes it an inviting city-centre haven for any occasion.

For a truly memorable visit, consider the hands-on Pizza Experience, where groups can learn to make their own pizzas at the chef's table, complemented by Italian courses and fizz. Beyond this interactive offering, Gusto Italian prides itself on quality ingredients and carefully crafted dishes, including fresh seafood and delightful desserts like their highly recommended Tiramisu. With options for private dining and various spaces to suit your mood, from bright window views to intimate jewel-toned booths, it's a versatile spot. Came here on a whim a few weeks ago. Was seated immediately, on a Sunday night and with no reservation. I got the dough petals with garlic butter— so good!— and chicken, which was well cooked and had a great sauce. A meal I would definitely return to get again. The food came quickly, and service was great.

I visited with 3 others to celebrate a 60th birthday. we booked the bottomless brunch & was not disappointed. We were seated very quickly by our server Andrea, she took our order & quickly returned with the 1st drinks. She kept an eye on our table & returned before our glasses were empty to take the next order. Perfect at a bottomless brunch. The range of cocktails was perfect & we were very pleased to see freshly made cocktails & no premix in sight. It was great to see a good variety of food choices not an eggs benedict to be seen thankfully. Good potions to soak up the cocktails (Italian coffee is a must). Birthday girl was treated to a complimentary sweet treat, candle included.
We will definitely return for future birthday celebrations & hopefully in between as well.

It was my last lunch in Oxford and decided to try this place. I ordered a caprino pizza. It looked big and I thought I'd have half of it. It I couldn't stop, and nearly finished it. The pistachio crème brulée was just ok. Good selection of wine by the glass, super friendly service. Would happily come again.

The food and service — stellar. Mihai was attentive, knowledgeable, kind, joyous, and made delicious recommendations. The atmosphere would have been stellar, too, if the music wasn’t up so loud and if the host hadn’t been such a stick in the mud.
