Details

First recorded as a pub way back in 1835, The Golden Ball in Littlemore is an attractive, Cotswold-stone pub that has recently undergone a complete refurbishment. Inside, you'll find a lively main bar area, perfect for a game of pool or darts, and it's a popular spot for watching sports on the large TV screens. For those seeking a more tranquil atmosphere, there's a quieter, newly refurbished lounge bar, described as a "snug," ideal for enjoying a pint or a glass of wine with friends or family. The pub now boasts new handpulls, allowing them to serve both national and local cask ales. While it's noted that food is not currently served, the friendly bar staff and happy atmosphere make it a welcoming stop.

Externally, The Golden Ball features a fully fenced trade garden, making it an excellent choice for families, complete with a climbing-frame fort. This outdoor space lends itself perfectly to family-friendly activities, fun days, barbecues, and beer festivals. A traditional Oxfordshire pub game, Aunt Sally, can be enjoyed here and is well-supported during the summer evenings. The pub also hosts regular live and recorded music events, creating a great atmosphere to let your hair down. Located in Littlemore, a well-populated suburb about two miles from Oxford city centre, The Golden Ball benefits from excellent transport links and is considered a pub with little local competition. It's a place with a real sense of history, and the Littlemore Local History Society has even chosen it as a research project.

Ok, so we come from down south, found this pub via Google maps/review.
After walking from our hotel was a little surprised by lots of shouting from the pub garden.
Turns out people were playing aunt Sally a unique game to Oxford, and they were thoroughly enjoying.
We got served in short order by a very friendly barman who had the time to chat with us as did a lot of the locals too.
Had a very nice couple of pints, after which he offered to call us a taxi.
Walked out thankful that these kind of pubs still exist.
Then made a very of going to Frankie and Benny's, review to follow!

Sadly food is no longer served at this establishment. We attended for a wedding Anniversary. Bar staff are very friendly, polite and courteous Prices are average. Happy atmosphere.

I came in to have a few pints with friends. The lady behind the counter was rude, they served only "generic" beer and no ales. So we finished our one pint each and left. I may stop back on a different day to see if the service and choice to drink has gotten any better.

Im a long distance wagon driver so after I parked my wagon up I found this great place to have a pint in, I didn't have food so couldn't really rate it, but everything else was spot on.
