Housed in a former tile shop, The Tile Shop Ale House at 10 Windmill Road in Headington offers a unique and quirky setting for enjoying a pint. The original tiled floor remains, a nod to its past life, and the interior is adorned with eclectic decorations and comfortable cushioned wooden benches. This micropub focuses on delivering high-quality, well-kept real ales, often served directly from the cask via gravity pour to maintain their perfect condition. Alongside a curated selection of frequently rotating UK brewed ales, you'll find ciders, a choice of wines, spirits, and soft drinks. It's a welcoming spot for those who appreciate a good chat without the distractions of a typical chain pub, and even offers bar games to borrow.
Known for its dedication to real ale, the Tile Shop Ale House prioritises serving beers from independent brewers, with Tring Brewery's Side Pocket for a Toad and Ridgeway often featured as house beers due to their stability and clarity. They also introduce guest ales and were considering offerings from Oxford Brewery, West Berkshire, or Skinner's. While the main event is undoubtedly the ale, they also stock Hitchcox cider and a limited range of other beverages to cater to different tastes. This establishment was brought to life by five partners who share a passion for real ale, aiming to create a space for conversation and the quiet enjoyment of quality beer, inspired by micropubs that don't pretend to be anything other than a place for good beer and good company.
