Details

Sourdough doughnut specialists Crosstown have brought their signature treats to 3 St Michael's Mansion on Ship Street, a welcome sight for anyone with a sweet tooth. This award-winning brand, which started as a London market stall in 2014, is famed for being the first to create sourdough doughnuts and has since expanded with numerous locations. Their Oxford store, a permanent fixture since September 2022, offers the full Crosstown experience, from fresh doughnuts and small-batch ice cream to cookies, chocolate, and specialty coffee. You can enjoy your treats inside, grab them to go, or even opt for on-demand delivery to your doorstep in under an hour. They are open seven days a week, typically from 8am to 8pm.

Visitors to the Ship Street store will find an extensive array of inventive doughnut flavours, with a particularly strong offering for vegans. Popular choices include the Tongan Vanilla Bean Glaze, Dark Chocolate Truffle, and more adventurous options like vegan Lavender Crème Brûlée or Jasmine & Rhubarb. Beyond doughnuts, Crosstown serves handmade cookies and their own small-batch ice cream, making it a comprehensive dessert destination. The store is praised for its friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere, providing a comfortable spot to relax with a coffee and a premium treat. While known for quality, be aware that some find the doughnuts to be on the pricier side.

I’ve always felt such a friendly vibe from this place- very comfortable, chill, accommodating, good music! Bob and Martin are both excellent- so friendly. Wonderful service and a really nice place to meet with people :~) I had an orange hot chocolate there a couple of weeks ago and couldn’t stop thinking about it for days- today might be the day I break and go back…!

Donuts are amazing and staff are so sweet! I’ve had donuts twice from here, once from a TooGoodToGo bag and once fresh. Both were amazing! Their donuts have a very light, fluffy, airy but still undoubtedly doughy texture. I’ve tried Biscotti, PB&Banana and Dark Chocolate and enjoyed them all. Even the “stale” TG2G donuts felt really fresh.

Recently also tried the ice cream. The PB&J ice cream is to die for! And they’re very generous with their scoops. Staff were very sweet both times I’ve popped in, definitely worth a visit.

Lovely chill atmosphere, seemed good for a catch up or place to do work at as many customers sitting in store were doing that! The server who served us was very polite and accommodating.

I got a doughnut and coffee with 20% student discount, it was delicious ^.^ The doughnut was well filled and thick, well worth the price. Highly recommend!

Amazing staff and absolutely delicious doughnuts! They consistently offer exciting new flavors alongside their classic signature ones. The café’s ambiance is cozy and relaxing—perfect for reading a book or simply enjoying a great cup of coffee.

One of my favorite spots in Oxford!

Overall a very mediocre experience. We had three donuts and, though richly filled, there was not enough flavour to warrant the high price. Texturally, they also did not taste like what you should expect from a well-made donut. Give it a try, if you want, but don’t believe the hype. Overpriced for a product that does not deliver. The coffee was much better than expected, it has to be said, and the atmosphere is nice.
