Housed in a Grade II listed building on Broad Street, Italiamo Trattoria brings authentic, family-handmade Italian food to the heart of Oxford. This welcoming eatery, less formal than a traditional restaurant, is the dream of husband-and-wife team Madina and Stefano Loi, who already run a popular Italian cafe and deli in the city. They focus on providing affordable, authentic Italian dishes, with everything cooked from scratch and no frozen food in sight. Their pizza is a particular highlight, with the dough undergoing a 36-hour fermentation process before it's ready to be enjoyed. It's a place where locals are already returning, drawn by the genuine flavours and the promise of a proper family trattoria experience.
The passion for authentic Italian extends beyond the main courses. Italiamo Trattoria serves Julius Meinl Italian roast coffee, a brand not commonly found elsewhere in Oxford. Having successfully run their coffee shop for five years, the owners are excited to bring their culinary vision to a full restaurant setting. They've even applied for a pavement licence, hoping to create a lovely al fresco atmosphere for enjoying a drink with a cheese and meat board as summer approaches. With a commitment to quality ingredients, traditional Sardinian influences from Stefano's heritage, and a desire to be an affordable haven for lovers of genuine Italian cooking, Italiamo Trattoria is a vibrant new addition to Oxford's dining scene.
