Stone-milled flour, sourced from organic wheat and rye grown within 50 miles, forms the heart of every loaf, bun, and cake at Hamblin Bread on Iffley Road. Since opening in 2018, this neighbourhood bakery has become a cornerstone for those who appreciate the craft of traditional baking, with owners Hugo Thurston and Kate Hamblin prioritising heritage grains and seasonal ingredients. You might find yourself drawn in by the aroma of their legendary sourdough, renowned for its robust crust and tender crumb, or perhaps the allure of their cardamom buns, a consistent crowd-pleaser. They also craft a delicious array of other treats, from cinnamon and custard buns to perfectly chewy chocolate chip cookies and even savoury potato pasties.
It's not just about the daily bread and sweet indulgences; Hamblin extends its thoughtful sourcing to a curated selection of deli items. Visitors can often find local cheeses, cured meats, fresh fruit and vegetables, and even natural, organic, and biodynamic wines, making it a convenient stop for assembling a quality picnic. On Saturdays, their sourdough pizzas, topped with high-quality ingredients like Westcombe ricotta, are a particular highlight. While there's often a queue, a testament to its popularity, the friendly service and the chance to snag a perfectly crafted sandwich or a seasonal special make any wait worthwhile. They also operate a kiosk in Oxford's Covered Market.

There’s usually a queue outside Hamblin because it’s so popular. Have heard people say they come from really far places to get a taste of Hamblin’s fresh bread. Suggest you book online before you visit.
Also their cinnamon buns and chocolate cookies are yummy! 🤤
