Dating back to 1750, Lains Barn offers a magnificently restored historic setting in rural Oxfordshire, near the ancient market town of Wantage. This timber-framed barn, with its majestic hall and large wooden doors opening onto a lawned courtyard, provides an authentic and romantic atmosphere. Originally an agricultural building, its rustic features like wooden beams, a unique tiled floor, and even an old manger, blend thoughtfully with contemporary furnishings, including a custom-built bar and festoon lighting. The U-shaped design ensures a natural flow for any event, while the surrounding grounds, including a quirky grain store on staddle stones, offer charming backdrops. Wheat fields and natural woodland border the property, providing far-reaching views towards the Chiltern Hills.
Lains Barn is yours to enjoy exclusively, whether for a wedding, private party, or corporate event. The versatile main barn can host up to 150 guests for a ceremony or seat up to 170 for dining, transforming seamlessly for evening receptions with a capacity of 200. Outdoor ceremonies can be held on the manicured lawn, which is also perfect for drinks, garden games, or enjoying pizzas from the outdoor wood-fired oven and Argentinian grills. The covered open byre provides an ideal outdoor space regardless of the weather. The family-run team has extensive experience and offers in-house catering with customisable menus, ensuring every detail is thoughtfully managed for a memorable occasion in this quintessentially rural Oxfordshire setting.

In the run up to our wedding, the team at Lains (especially Rachel) were extremely supportive, helping guide us through the decisions we needed to make and responsive to all our questions. We had several guests with food allergies and Rachel put them completely at ease.
On the wedding day itself, the team continued to excel - Nigel and Katy in particular was so friendly to all our guests and helped the day run smoothly - including changing over decorations and accommodating our slightly late start to the food service! They were complete professionals.
We couldn't have had a better wedding, it was just perfect! 10/10!

The very moment we arrived at Lain's we instantly fell in love with it, we knew in a heartbeat that it was going to be the place for us to say I do ❤️
Both Martin and Babs and the team were absolutely amazing on the lead up to our wedding, giving us all the information we needed they were all so comforting and attentive to our needs. We felt at total ease with everything - just what you want when planning your big day!
Our wedding day went so incredibly smoothly, we got married on a Sunday so chose to have the sirloin of beef roast dinner with a classic apple crumble and creme anglaise for dessert - the food was utterly delicious with copious amounts for everyone! The only wedding I've been to where I wasn't still hungry after food! Our guests were complimenting the food all evening!
A special mention to Katy - the absolute gem that looked after us all day at Lain's, she really is a credit to Lain's and is someone that stood out to us in such a big and lovely way ❤️ we can't thank her enough!
We had quite literally had the BEST day of our lives at Lain's - thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
