Dating back to 1750, Lains Barn offers a magnificently restored historic setting in rural Oxfordshire, near the ancient market town of Wantage. This timber-framed barn, with its majestic hall and large wooden doors opening onto a lawned courtyard, provides an authentic and romantic atmosphere. Originally an agricultural building, its rustic features like wooden beams, a unique tiled floor, and even an old manger, blend thoughtfully with contemporary furnishings, including a custom-built bar and festoon lighting. The U-shaped design ensures a natural flow for any event, while the surrounding grounds, including a quirky grain store on staddle stones, offer charming backdrops. Wheat fields and natural woodland border the property, providing far-reaching views towards the Chiltern Hills.

Lains Barn is yours to enjoy exclusively, whether for a wedding, private party, or corporate event. The versatile main barn can host up to 150 guests for a ceremony or seat up to 170 for dining, transforming seamlessly for evening receptions with a capacity of 200. Outdoor ceremonies can be held on the manicured lawn, which is also perfect for drinks, garden games, or enjoying pizzas from the outdoor wood-fired oven and Argentinian grills. The covered open byre provides an ideal outdoor space regardless of the weather. We originally found Lains Barn via the website Hitched. We spoke to the owner Martin and arranged a viewing, and let's just say we were blown away. Martin was lovely and gave us a detailed tour of the venue and left us to have a look around on our own. We made our decision very quickly after that first visit, we couldn't imagine picking anywhere else. Unlike many other venues, the barn comes fully loaded with things other places charge a small fortune for, items such as fresh greenery/foliage, lighting, cake board and much more. We got married in November, so the dark rich tones of the barn suited us absolutely perfectly. One thing I can say for certain is that if you are wondering if the food was any good, it was incredible, almost every single one of our guests said how much they enjoyed it, we went for the sharing BBQ menu and pizza in the evening, the quality of the food was outstanding. A final mention is for how well organised the whole process was, we honestly did not have any stress at all, this was massively helped by Rachel and Katy, so a big thankyou to both of you guys.
