A unique riverside position in the heart of Oxford affords The Folly, formerly known as The Junction Restaurant, an atmosphere that is both central and serene, a stone's throw from the Westgate centre yet nestled by the beauty of the River Thames. Its floating river terrace offers an unparalleled dining experience, allowing you to savour thoughtfully prepared modern British cuisine literally on the water. Inside, the decor is reflective of Oxford itself – eclectic, eccentric, relaxed, and sophisticated, creating a charming blend of city and nature. This independent, family-owned establishment prides itself on genuine hospitality and showcasing the best locally sourced food and ingredients the region has to offer, with a seasonal menu that evolves to ensure freshness and reduce food miles. The historic Folly Bridge nearby even has links to Lewis Carroll, who is said to have hired boats from this very spot, inspiring tales of Alice.
Whether you're seeking an elegant evening meal, a relaxed lunch, traditional afternoon tea, or simply cocktails on the terrace, The Folly caters to all occasions. The menu features delights such as slow-cooked pork belly with rib and apricot bonbon, or harissa-roasted courgettes with broad bean and basil risotto, and decadent desserts like molten caramel lava cake. Beyond the exceptional food, you can enhance your visit by hiring a boat or embarking on one of the popular Oxford River Cruises that depart from this very location, offering options like afternoon tea cruises, picnic voyages, or even a cruise and dine package for a truly memorable experience. It’s a place to create special moments, to pause and savour food made with love, letting the everyday slip away in a setting steeped in Oxford's charm and history.

A heater and blankets provided to keep you warm. The food was good and we were able to get gluten free and vegetarian options.
The two hour slot was more than enough time to enjoy ourselves.
