Sustainably sourced Cornish cod and haddock are the stars at Harrison's Fish And Chip Co., a popular, family-run chippy in Botley's Elms Parade. Known for its light, crispy batter and commitment to quality, this award-winning spot has locals raving about the food, with some reviewers even converted to haddock over cod thanks to the owner's recommendation. Beyond the celebrated fish, you'll find all the traditional chip shop accompaniments, from mushy peas and curry sauce to pies and battered sausages. They even offer children's meals, ensuring a satisfying takeaway treat for every member of the family after a day exploring Oxford. You can find them open for lunch and dinner, Monday through Saturday.
Conveniently located at 6 Elms Parade, Harrison's is praised for its efficient service and fresh, quality food, making it a reliable choice for a classic British meal. While renowned for their seafood, the menu also extends to burgers, including beef and chicken options, and even a selection of vegan pies, catering to a variety of tastes. Amazing place. Chips sometimes left in the heat bin which makes them drier, crisper, yet hot. Not great. Ryan and his staff are always helpful and will cater to your needs.
First review:
THIS is how Fish & Chips should be made. Made to order, hot fresh and satisfyingly crisp.
The Fish is the real deal! Not the unnamed horrid stuff masquerading as cod or haddock.
Curry sauce is okay, not as good as a real katsu, the likes of which I've found in some London chippies.
Off the Hook should intern here to learn how REAL chips with all the accompaniments are made!
Second review update:
I had rated the chippy on a later visit down a notch, to 3 stars - as I felt the quality of their chips hadn't been the same as on previous visits. I received a friendly and helpful message from Mr Harrison himself, asking me to mention any disappointment at the time or future visits so that they can help.
Well, I went back, more recently, a few months after my last visit. I requested that the chips to be fried fresh for me, and not placed in the 'keep warm' bin. They did exactly that. They were fresh, fluffy and steaming hot!
Knowing my diet, he also fried the king prawns separately. Let me tell you, they were delicious. They were wolfed down by our little one!
Thank you for staying true to your promise, Harrisons, and always delivering service with a smile!
