Nestled in Little Clarendon Street, a lively and somewhat funky lane in Oxford's Jericho district, The Duke of Cambridge has been a local cocktail institution since 1981. This smart bar, with its tastefully decorated interior and snaking banquette seating, draws a mixed crowd of students and professionals. It's known for an atmosphere that's buzzing on weekends and more laid-back during the week. The extensive cocktail menu features both contemporary and classic concoctions, all made with fine spirits and fresh ingredients. If your favourite isn't listed, the bartenders are happy to whip it up for you.
Generous happy hours make exploring the drink selection even more tempting, running from 4pm to 9pm Sunday to Thursday, and 4pm to 7:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays. While cocktails are the main event, you can also find a selection of wines, bottled beers including from Hook Norton, and even Cuban cigars. For those feeling peckish, bar snacks and nibbles are available. The Duke of Cambridge offers a refined yet relaxed ambiance, perfect for a pre-dinner drink, a night out with friends, or even a special occasion, with options for private hire.

There were 3 different menus throughout the bar, one from a QR code on the table, one on the website and another paper one at the bar. All had a different time for happy hour?? We booked a table for 6:30 specifically to be here over happy hour but when we went to order drinks we were told it had finished and had to pay full price (£12 for a cocktail) even tho on one menu it said it finished at 7 and another at 7:30?? This was on a Saturday and they had run out of lemonade, grenadine and passion fruit so didn’t have all the ingredients for a lot of cocktails on the menu. I assume this was the manager (as he was asked about our table when we said we had a booking) but he was on his phone in the corner most of the time we were there aswell which isn’t great when there is a queue at the bar with one bartender.
Cocktails are nice but very expensive, just so many other locations in oxford that aren’t as expensive and actually stick to the happy hour prices they have on the menu…
