Hand-cut triple cooked chips with a distinctive Mahon Mayo await at The Port Mahon, an 18th-century pub with a history stretching back to 1710. This Grade II-listed establishment, recently refurbished, offers a cosy and vibrant atmosphere with its dark, moody interiors, preserved wooden beams, and plump leather banquettes. Visitors can enjoy a range of drinks, including local ales, a good selection of wines and spirits, and even the pub's own 'Mahon Gin'. The pubby menu extends beyond snacks to include hearty mains like beer-battered Cornish cod, homemade pies, and a popular Sunday roast that has been lauded as one of the best. With its welcoming feel, it's a popular spot for both locals and those exploring St Clement's Street.

Port mahon was a lovely experience. I wanted somewhere that was good for elderly people and dog friendly. It was both. The food was very tasty and the service was so thoughtful and friendly. The staff went out of their way to help. Even providing a bowl of water for the dog. Five stars.

I stumbled across this pub as I have recently started working opposite. It is not an exaggeration to say that I was blown away by my experience here earlier today. The landlord, Jonathan, is super friendly without being over the top. The food and drinks are incredibly good value. I will definitely be going back. My new favourite pub in Oxford!

Second Sunday Lunch at this recently refurbished pub. Had Beef and bone marrow pie and the wife had 28 day aged roast rump of beef, both so very tasty, the roasties nice and crisp and veg very well seasoned. Wine menu is small but different from the norm, had an orange wine last time, a primitivo this. Service was prompt and very friendly. Beef and bone marrow pie is available in the week apparently so may need to visit midweek soon. Long may it continue.

Had a delicious roast here last weekend, both the pork and vege options were fab, and the cauli cheese was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Service by Jonathan and the team was exceptional and is the real jewel in the crown of the Port Mahon. Can't wait to come and visit during the week and trying the a la carte menu (which also looked fab). Did I mention they do £5 negronis and drink the cask dry on Tuesdays? Get yourself down here, you won't be disappointed :)
