Details

Rosa's Thai on George Street brings the vibrant flavours of Thailand to the heart of Oxford. Housed in a building with a distinctive red exterior that pays homage to the first Rosa's in London's East End, the interior aims to transport you to Bangkok with its colourful, eclectic style and walls adorned with photographs telling the Rosa's story. They are known for using fresh ingredients, including curry pastes from the Huai Yod district and noodles from a third-generation family business. Whether you're craving a classic Pad Thai, a fragrant Green Curry, or adventurous dishes like the fiery Drunken Noodles or the rich Red Duck Pineapple Curry, there's a wide selection to explore. Vegetarian and vegan diners are also well catered for with popular choices including Tom Ka soup with Asian mushrooms and a punchy Jungle curry with tofu.

Situated on one of Oxford's busiest streets for dining and entertainment, Rosa's Thai is a stone's throw from the New Theatre and Oxford Playhouse, making it an ideal spot for a pre-show meal or a post-shopping refuel. The lively atmosphere is often described as bustling, attracting a diverse crowd including students, families, and visitors. While some recent reviews mention it can feel more like a fast-paced chain, the friendly service and solid, flavourful dishes generally receive positive feedback. They also offer a range of Thai-inspired cocktails and bubble teas to complete your meal. For a taste of authentic Thai cooking in a central and energetic Oxford location, Rosa's Thai presents a welcoming option.

Went for lunch with a friend who I was meeting after a decade, so we did a lot and lot of talking. No one bugged us at all and the staff was super friendly. It also wasn’t busy even on the weekend so we got to choose our table by the lovely corner in the restaurant. Food was served fresh and was totally flavourful. They also took a note of our allergies. Had a lovely time enjoying yum thai food.

Overall the food was nice, the atmosphere was good and the bathroom was tidy.

A few things I would mention are:
- Food was a little salty but overall tasty
- Service charge added on by default
- Our table in the middle, kept getting knocked around by staff.

Otherwise a pleasant experience and I would probably go back.

Thanks

Superb. Starters were full of flavour and very tasty. Delicious drinks came quickly. When I ordered the green curry with beef, Arpana, our very friendly, courteous server warned me it may be spicy! She kindly offered to check back later in meal to see if she could offer a remedy if I found it too hot! I actually found it perfect: not overpowering and quietly building as I ate to a wonderfully satisfying level of spice. The bubble tea 🧋 complemented it well.
Recommended.

As a Thai, their Pad Krapao tastes authentic. You can tell them to make it more spicy. The restaurant is clean and pleasant. The portion is more than enough.
I also received a lovely service from Imran (hope I don’t mistake his name)
