Details

22 Florence Park Road is home to The Jolly Postboys, an independent, family-run pub that has quickly become a cherished part of the local community. Inside, you'll find a warm, casual setting with a rustic, relaxing, gastro-pub feel, complete with swanky lighting and a welcoming mishmash of chairs and tables. They specialise in 'English Bistro' style food, offering a menu that mixes traditional pub classics like fantastic fish & chips and glorious pies with contemporary favourites and notoriously delicious sharing boards. Alongside the food, there's a diverse and regularly changing selection of craft, lager, and traditional cask beers, including local brews from places like Cotswold Brewing and Loose Cannon, as well as a broad selection of spirits and wines.

The Jolly Postboys is more than just a place for good food and drink; it's a vibrant hub with a strong community focus and an inclusive, family-friendly ethos that even extends a welcome to dogs. Regular events keep things lively, including a monthly pub quiz that crowns champions and the "Rocksteady Roast" on the last Sunday of the month, featuring delicious roast dinners accompanied by classic reggae and soul spun by Count Skylarkin. They also host beer festivals and have previously run a "Jolly Craft Club". Whether you're settling in for a mid-week dinner, a swift pint in the beer garden, or a full Sunday roast, the commitment to good, honest, locally sourced food and drink and second-to-none hospitality shines through.

An extremely busy Sunday for TJP which made for an absolutely fun filled afternoon what with the choice of roasts and the eclectic vinyl selection spun by Oxford's very own formidable SkyLarkin.

It's advisable to get there early or better still reserve a table to avoid disappointment.

Looking forward to the next Rocksteady Roast always on the last Sunday of the month 😋

Thank you so much for the excellent service from Louis, Mo and all the team 💙

Unfortunately the pictures featured here do not align with the review of .y recent visits.
I'm not sure why Google maps have got it very wrong 🤔

I'm looking forward to updating my post on my next eagerly anticipated visit to the JP for the upcoming Rocksteady Roast later this month 😋

Went for a drink tonight. The place was busy but really cold. People were sitting drinking in their coats. Lighting way too bright. Not a welcoming cosy atmosphere …turn the heating up!

Cute little pub out of the way doing Sunday roasts and with wheelchair access. Has board games near the door.

Dog friendly.

Staff are down to earth and helpful and compliant with pretty much anything. It was nice to get a normal roast dinner. See photos.

So there's a ramp by the back door. The landlord is laidback. The pub is quiet enough for autistic people to easily use though there appears to be a dukebox on the other side with poor acoustics, the pub is L shaped so it shouldn't matter.

The back gardens space was lovely and felt not busy even on friday evening which was nice! The kitchen is still closed so cannot rate the food from the pub but there was an amazing japanese van so that deserves a 5 but since its not affiliated to the pub it is 3 for now. The service was ok but looked like they needed more people in service since there were only two of them. Drinks stocks also looked quite low and wish there was a menu for drinks since that was missing. The pims half pint was £7.5 which was a bit steep and wish they checked if i wanted single of double shot since buying pims outside could coat me £15 per bottle. Overall it was lovely and felt relaxing environment but I think there is room for improvement.

What a wonderful pub! I've been coming here for a few years and the new owners have made a fantastic job of creating a welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere with great food, great drinks and brilliant staff to match. We had a birthday party and everyone commented on how lovely the pub was. I'll be back very soon!
