Details

A welcoming, friendly Olde Worlde Pub, The White Hart in the historic village of Headington, Oxford, is renowned locally for its impressive selection of award-winning pies. You'll regularly find around ten different varieties to choose from, ranging from steak, dry-cured bacon, and Gem ale to wild mushroom and asparagus with shallots and white wine, with vegan and gluten-free options also available. This passion for quality extends to their real ales and craft beers, earning them a place in the Good Beer Guide for six consecutive years and Oxford CAMRA Pub of the Year in 2014 and 2017. The pub boasts a charming, south-facing beer garden, walled with Cotswold stone stables at the back – a real sun trap perfect for enjoying a Pimm's or a glass of wine during the summer months.

Inside this traditional, rambling pub, you'll find a small bar at the front and a larger room to the side, both nicely decorated and contributing to the community buzz, especially on a Friday night. The White Hart is more than just a place for a pint and a pie; it hosts regular events like a quiz night every Tuesday at 8 pm with prizes and a cash jackpot, and a wine club. They also show major sporting events on three large screens. For a livelier experience, don't miss their annual May beer festival, featuring over 40 beers and ciders, a pig roast, BBQ, and live music. Easily accessible by bus from Oxford City centre, it’s a cornerstone of the local Headington fabric.

Small but perfectly formed menu, great portions and decently priced with good service. A slight gripe is that the Steak & Kidney pie, though well filled and tasty, was either slightly overcooked or warmed up - the pastry seemed a little dry.

Cosy, great atmosphere and staff were very friendly. Didn't try the food yet but their menu for dogs looks delicious! On that note, it's an extremely dog friendly pub and they were very happy to see ours.
Will definitely be going there more often and look forward to trying their pies :)

What an absolute little Gem 💎 this place is.

Sunday roast, fit for a King 🤴

And our server, Willow, was fantastic.

So friendly and so helpful on things totally unrelated to our visit there on the day.

She was a true super star 🌟 ✨️

I stopped by this pub yesterday for a drink and had a fantastic time! The atmosphere was really cool and relaxed, perfect for unwinding. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. I also loved the interior design – it had a great vibe and felt very inviting. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a spot with good drinks, a nice atmosphere, and great service. Will definitely be back! 🍻😊

An absolute gem of a pub in the heart (Hart?!) of beautiful Old Headington. The food is absolutely out of this world! This is our second time eating here and it's already become a firm favourite. The pies are unbelievably delicious. We can recommend the Chicken, Ham Hock and Leek pie, as well the Beef with Clawson Stilton. On our previous visit we thoroughly enjoyed the Tiger Beer Battered Fish, as well as the Baby Back Ribs. Honestly, I think everything on the menu will be excellent. Everything about this place is just right: fabulous food, friendly and knowledgeable staff, great atmosphere, spacious beer garden, all wrapped up in a picturesque pub. Thank you to Xavier and all the staff, you're all awesome!
