Details

Dappled sunlight filters through the iconic Grade II listed Victorian conservatory at Gees Restaurant & Bar, illuminating tables laden with Mediterranean-inspired dishes. This North Oxford institution, once a greengrocer and florist for the Gee family in 1897, has been a beloved dining destination for locals and visitors since 1989. The airy space, filled with trees and plants, offers a rustic yet chic ambiance where you can enjoy regional specialities from Spain, Portugal, and Italy. Imagine savouring the freshest seasonal ingredients, expertly prepared with a focus on simple, robust flavours, whether you opt for house-made pasta, grilled seafood, or a tempting pizzetta.

The experience extends beyond the stunning glasshouse, with a charming bar perfect for a pre-dinner cocktail and a delightful terrace for al fresco moments. For those seeking a more intimate gathering or a celebratory meal, Gees Gallery provides a sophisticated private dining space with its own bar and an evolving art collection. Recent additions like the 'Secret Garden' further enhance the appeal, offering an enchanting outdoor setting. With a commitment to quality and a nod to its rich history, Gees consistently provides a memorable taste of the Mediterranean, just a pleasant ten-minute walk from Oxford's city centre.

This restaurant was overpriced as the food in terms of taste and presentation are not up to the standard of theat price paid. The Today’s fish £28.50, Pork Belly £25.35, burger £20.50. Atmosphere is too dark and too small for the two person round table. The issue matters us is the service is disappointing where we were stopped by a waitress when we were walking out of the restaurant, as she forgot to charge us an extra bottle of water in our bill we had paid at £121 and asked us to top up extra £5 ish with another bill printed out separately (we didn’t order any extra bottle of water at all).
