Settle into the heart of Oxford with a visit to the Oxford Brunch Bar at 19 George Street, where classic brunch dishes meet a welcoming, folksy charm. You might find yourself tempted by their popular Eggs Benedict, perfectly poached Cackleberry Farm eggs drizzled with warm, creamy hollandaise sauce on toasted sourdough. Or perhaps one of their hearty farmhouse sandwiches or the signature "Full Oxford" breakfast, featuring locally sourced bacon and sausage, will catch your eye. The menu also boasts unique "Frumpets" – light and spongy French toast crumpets with toppings like maple-glazed bacon or Nutella and banana – alongside a variety of coffees, teas, and fresh juices. Recent additions even include an evening tapas menu, showcasing Spanish influences with dishes like Gambas al Pil Pil and traditional Tortilla Española, adding another dimension to this city centre spot.
Located on a street renowned as a premier restaurant pitch in Oxford, the Brunch Bar is perfectly positioned for those exploring the city. George Street itself is a vibrant hub, connecting the train station to the city centre and bustling with theatres like the New Theatre Oxford and Oxford Playhouse, shops, and other eateries. This makes the Oxford Brunch Bar an ideal stop, whether you're seeking a leisurely brunch before diving into Oxford's historic colleges and museums, or a comforting meal after a day of sightseeing. The café’s "folksy" and welcoming atmosphere, praised by visitors, offers a relaxed setting to refuel and soak in the city's lively energy. There were too many red flags, firstly we were told everything was gluten free and we just have to swap out the bread, then upon pushing we were told only a few things were available, then only the avocado and egg dish with gluten free bread is ok, then upon asking about how the bread is toasted it turns out they use a toaster for normal and gluten free bread.
Clearly they don't know enough about allergies (despite the signs).
We had to leave as we simply can't trust the safety of the restaurant.
