Sadly they had no draught at all due to a gas issue in the cellar but we just had champagne instead haha ~ beautiful views. Lovely inside decor. Great music. Can’t wait to go again 😁
The setting is probably one of the nicest parts of the whole visit. The restaurant sits right by the river and the surroundings are beautiful, especially on a sunny day. The outdoor area is spacious and peaceful, making it a great place to relax with a drink before or after your meal. The building itself has a lot of character and feels very traditional and welcoming.
Inside, the atmosphere was warm and busy without feeling overcrowded. Staff were friendly and polite throughout the visit. We were greeted quickly and shown to our table without waiting long. Service was generally good, although there were a few moments where we had to wait a little longer than expected for drinks and to order desserts.
The food was nicely presented and portions were generous. The fish and chips were particularly good, with crispy batter and fresh fish. The desserts were enjoyable and the menu offered a good variety of options. While everything was pleasant, some dishes felt slightly overpriced for what was served, which is the only reason I wouldn’t give a full five stars.
The restaurant is clearly popular and it’s easy to see why. Between the riverside location, historic surroundings and relaxed atmosphere, it feels like a special place to visit whether you’re meeting family, friends or celebrating an occasion.
Overall, a very enjoyable experience and somewhere I would happily return to, particularly during the warmer months when you can fully appreciate the setting by the river.
Great place for kids too. River Thames flowing on side makes this a picturesque place to meet and dine.
The squid starter was particularly delicious.
