We had a fantastic meal here and everything we ordered was spot on. The burger was incredibly juicy and well-made, and the roasted chicken with slaw had amazing flavor. The absolute highlight, though, was the steak with peppercorn sauce - it was cooked perfectly and the sauce was excellent. All the sides of fries were hot and crispy too. Highly recommend this spot if you want a great meal!
It's a short walk from all the major "touristy" things but is on a mainly residential street so is super quiet at night!
The service was exceptional, maybe the most friendly ive ever had! Everything was well explained upon arrival. We had dinner & breakfast downstairs and easily the best two meals ever consumed in my life. i dont think i stopped smiling throughout my meals. plus, they both arrived within 20 minutes or so. The overall "vibe" was really calm, intimate and quiet which we really enjoyed.
Small details were VERY appreciated eg. a fridge with cold water available. conditioner was supplied which is not seen too often. our room had a heater that we could independently control, our windows ACTUALLY OPENED and we had a Dyson fan provided.
Would definitely stay here again and will be thinking of my steak for the foreseeable.
We had two excellent, very high-quality steaks. My experience was marred by a long hair in the sauce. Thats not what I expected for £35 each.
The sirloin steak was cooked to perfection and the chips were delicious.
In addition, the service was brilliant.
Will definitely be going back here the next time we visit Oxford.

The booking arrangements, including follow up on menus and preferences was very slick and when we arrived, we had a wonderful private room.
The meal was absolutely delicious and the steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection, some of the best our group had tasted.
We were quite a noisy group and the staff were incredibly patient and good natured, even offering a speaker for us to play music.
Couldn’t have asked for more from everyone involved - this was part of a stag that I’d organised for my brother, who’s one request was great steak and wine, Porterhouse totally delivered.
Overall, ok but not great.
