Classic Sri Lankan street food awaits at 76 Saint Clement's Street, where The Coconut Tree serves an explosion of flavours with their tapas-style small plates. Here, you'll find traditional dishes like hoppers – bowl-shaped coconut milk pancakes with sambols and salsa – alongside rich curries and the popular Kotthu, a dish of finely chopped roti stir-fried with vegetables, egg, and your choice of meat or vegan protein. The vibrant, "hip setting" comes alive with bare-brick walls, low-hanging lights, and even a small garden for warmer days, creating a buzzy atmosphere perfect for sharing food and "Cocotails". It’s a place known for its warm hospitality, where the staff are happy to guide you through the extensive menu that caters generously to vegan and vegetarian diners.
Don't expect a quiet meal; the vibe is young, fun, and often soundtracked by a dance-y playlist that might have you bopping in your seat as you explore the menu. Signature "Cocotails," like the Sriki-Tiki which can be set on fire, or the pineapple-heavy Beach Boy, add to the holiday mood. Dishes are designed for sharing, with recommendations of about three plates per person, allowing you to sample a wide array of Sri Lankan tastes, from spicy devilled dishes to milder, fragrant curries. Whether you're after a lively night out, a flavourful date night, or a casual meal with friends, The Coconut Tree offers a unique and sociable dining experience that’s known for being both delicious and reasonably priced.

Also very good for the street foods, like this egg hopper (pancake with egg and caramelized onion and spicy sauce) is really tasty and impressive. You can take away some spicy sauce at first to see hows the level of spicy for you.
For mains, I would say vegan options are much better than meat options. The jackfruit wings, cashew nut curry, and generally string hoper kotthu! But the fish I ordered are quite salty and too soft for me, also the green soup are not so good looking.
Would come for drinks and sides and vegan options again👍
