Tom Quad, the largest and arguably most impressive of Oxford's quadrangles, immediately greets you with its sheer scale and the imposing Tom Tower, designed by Sir Christopher Wren. Listen for Great Tom, the bell within the tower, which rings 101 times each evening at 9:05 PM, a tradition dating back centuries. This historic college, uniquely also a cathedral, was founded by King Henry VIII in 1546. The Christ Church Cathedral itself is a marvel, home to the shrine of St Frideswide, Oxford's patron saint, and its world-renowned choir often fills the twelfth-century structure with sublime music during daily services. You can wander through the very spaces that inspired academics and authors for generations, feeling the weight of history in every stone.

Beyond the architectural grandeur, Christ Church unfolds into the tranquil Christ Church Meadow, a serene expanse offering picturesque walks along the Rivers Thames and Cherwell. This idyllic setting famously inspired Lewis Carroll, a mathematics tutor here, to dream up "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," and you can seek out the "Alice Door" in the Cathedral Garden that is said to have sparked the idea of Alice falling into Wonderland. More recently, film enthusiasts will recognise the college's iconic staircase and hallways from the Harry Potter movies, where they served as famed Hogwarts locations. Whether you're captivated by its royal and scholarly heritage, its literary connections, or its cinematic fame, a visit offers a multifaceted journey through centuries of culture.

This place is probably known more for the Harry Potter connection, but the rest of the place it amazing as well. The main hall was the inspiration for the great hall in Harry Potter, but I really like the Alice in Wonderland cindy
Connection. Make sure you go while your visiting
