Details

Nestled at 8 Woodstock Road, the Carey Blyth Gallery, run by Jenny Blyth Fine Art, presents a welcoming space for art lovers in the heart of Oxford. This contemporary art gallery showcases a diverse range of artworks, including paintings, photography, and sculpture by local, national, and international artists. Visitors can expect to find both solo and mixed exhibitions, often with a focus on art grounded in the natural world, whether that be figurative or abstract. The gallery, noted for its great natural light and friendly atmosphere, provides an opportunity to discover beautiful contemporary art for your home or workplace. Jenny Blyth, with over twenty-five years of experience, including a significant period as a curator at the Saatchi Gallery (1990-2002), brings a depth of knowledge and passion to the curation of the gallery's collections and exhibitions.

The gallery has a history of compelling exhibitions, such as "Earth & Angels" and shows featuring artists like Day Bowman, whose work explores themes like the littoral shoreline, and Chloe Fremantle, known for her colourful and reflective compositions. Past exhibitions have also included "All The Pretty Horses" by Trish Wylie and "Pots of Plenty" which combined paintings by Anne Lynch with ceramics by Alan Berman. Jenny Blyth Fine Art also participates in broader art events, such as the Fresh Art Fair and Oxford Artweeks, showcasing artists like Susan Moxley. Though the physical Carey Blyth Gallery space closed in December 2023, Jenny Blyth Fine Art continues its mission as a "floating gallerist," curating exhibitions and advising artists, with ongoing projects and a newsletter to keep patrons informed.

A very welcome new presence in Oxford. Jenny’s love for her work is evident in the care she takes to show interesting and varied work. She is extremely knowledgeable, and serves an excellent elderflower (and no doubt an excellent glass of bubbly, too)! We’ve been thrilled with two prurchases we made recently.

Thrilled that Jenny Blyth has reopened a new gallery space as Carey Blyth on the Woodstock Road in Oxford. Carey Blyth is offering mixed shows with a variety of artists, great natural light and in a central location near the coffee and lunch stops of Little Clarendon Street. Definitely worth getting on the guest-list to keep updated on events and show changes.

So good to see this lovely little gallery set up and to see Jenny re established in an Oxford gallery. A very different feel to Art Jericho, but this is a good space, full of light and an excellent location. Currently showing mixed shows. Well worth a visit.
