Forty-two acres of beautiful Oxfordshire woodland await at Scout Adventures Youlbury, the world's oldest permanent Scout campsite, located on Boars Hill. With a history stretching back to 1913 when Sir Arthur Evans first allowed Scouts to camp on the land and built them a cabin, this site has evolved into a premier destination for outdoor experiences. Whether you're looking for high-octane thrills like the 3G swing, aerial trek, or zip wire, or prefer traditional bushcraft skills such as backwoods cooking and shelter building, Youlbury offers a diverse programme. Activities like archery, climbing, and tomahawk throwing are also on offer, ensuring a memorable visit filled with challenge and adventure for groups of all sizes.

Beyond the extensive range of over 70 activities, Youlbury provides a variety of accommodation options to suit any group, from comfortable indoor lodges to tented villages and plentiful camping spaces for those who prefer to sleep under the stars. The site is perfectly positioned for exploring the surrounding area, being only a short distance from the historic city of Oxford with its famous university, museums, and the "dreaming spires" visible from Boars Hill. Youlbury itself is a place steeped in natural beauty, with opportunities to spot local wildlife like deer, rabbits, and badgers within its picturesque woodland setting. Experienced instructors are on hand to help tailor your visit, whether it's for a school trip, a youth group residential, or a family adventure.

I’m pretty sure I was last here when I was the age of the scouts I brought here this time. The site sticks in my memory as being as amazing then as it is now. Such a great facility with quite simply the best toilets and showers I’ve ever had the joy to experience on a scout camp.

Very friendly staff and fun activities for the youth! I myself especially liked the archery. The lodges for groups are also of good quality.

Don't forget to bring old shoes, long trousers and big spray, because even when it's been dry for a while you can expect paths to be muddy, and quite some bugs.

Our first visit as a group. We had a good time and all the young people enjoyed themselves. Facilities were good, a few minor repairs were needed in the tented villages, but nothing major. The indoor accommodation was very good.
