Its intimate, concrete-chamber-like main room, painted black, offers a surprisingly cosy and immersive setting for everything from indie bands and renowned DJs to stand-up comedy. The Bullingdon has a history of showcasing both commercial and underground artists, including early performances from acts like Foals and Glass Animals, cementing its reputation as a launchpad for talent. Of course, we love it as a place for live music, as availability of venues becomes more & more challenging across the city.
But £7.50 for a bottle of Timothy Taylor??!
Come ON !! What a ripoff :(

A great venue, saw Dreadzone here. The air-conditioning was good and it didn't get too hot even though it was full. This venue has a lovely atmosphere. We will be returning 😁

I had one of the most unpleasant and shocking experiences at The Bullingdon, which has left me questioning the professionalism and ethics of this establishment.

Upon arriving at the venue on 29th December 2024, I was informed by the bouncer that entry required a £10 fee, payable in cash only. When I explained that I didn’t have cash or a bank card, he insisted I use a nearby ATM. However, the manager intervened and clarified that I could pay using contactless via my phone. While I appreciated the manager’s assistance, the insistence on cash initially raised concerns about the transparency of the club’s practices.

When I politely suggested to the bouncer that such insistence on cash-only payments could appear questionable, he became visibly upset. Moments later, I was removed from the queue and denied entry for being “disrespectful.” This was not only an overreaction but also an abuse of authority by someone clearly unfit for such a role.

The situation escalated further after I left the queue and began taking photos outside the venue. The same bouncer approached me aggressively, physically pushed me, and manhandled me without provocation. This is completely unacceptable and constitutes assault.

While the manager attempted to mediate earlier in the situation, their inability or unwillingness to hold their staff accountable for such behavior reflects poorly on the management and the venue as a whole.

This experience has left me feeling unsafe and disrespected. The lack of professionalism, transparency, and basic decency exhibited by your staff is disgraceful.

To anyone considering visiting The Bullingdon: think twice. There are far better venues in Oxford that prioritize safety, fairness, and respect for their patrons.

I will be reporting this incident to the police and the Security Industry Authority (SIA). Such behavior cannot and should not be tolerated.

Bar and music/comedy venue on the Cowley Road. Everything's on the ground floor which is good for access. Could do with a few more beer options in both the bar & venue, but prices are reasonable. Music venue is probably around 300 for a gig. Good visibility from most angles to the stage, but if you're short, you'll want to be at the front. Worth keeping an eye on what's coming up. Takes about 20 mins to walk from the centre of Oxford to here.
