Tucked away at 37-38 Little Clarendon Street you'll find A Club If You'd Like To Go Comedy, the regular home of Jericho Comedy, an award-winning comedy club that's been recommended by The Sunday Times and featured on Radio 4's "The Circuit". This Oxford-based comedy production company has a reputation for being one of the top comedy nights in the UK, having secured Chortle Comedy Awards in both 2019 and 2020. They are known for a friendly and electric atmosphere, making Saturdays at their Common Ground venue a prime spot for live comedy. Shows often feature a different lineup of comedians each week, ranging from up-and-coming acts to surprise appearances from big-name headliners, all expertly hosted by resident MC Alex Farrow, described by the Oxford Mail as "a well-spoken, amiable but razor-witted comedic maestro".
Prepare for an evening of diverse comedic stylings, from observational wit to the delightfully absurd, in a venue that prides itself on a relaxed and welcoming vibe. Jericho Comedy events are held at Common Ground, a super cool community hub and arts space that also functions as a café and bar, offering locally roasted coffee, sweet treats, craft beers, and wine. Many shows are for ages 16 and up, with under 18s needing to be accompanied by a responsible adult, and it's worth noting there are no steps at the venue, ensuring easy access. Given the popularity of these nights and the tendency for the room to fill up, booking in advance via their website, jerichocomedy.com, is highly recommended to avoid disappointment as shows consistently sell out.

A marked contrast to how Jongleurs used to be ad nauseum + 'crush the hecklers'. Even the comedians say what a lovely audience it is!
Format: 18:15 for 18:30 sit down (be early... or front row!) I turned up at 7pm and they had a seat... although it usually sells out.
There is then usually an MC (Alex) and four comedians do about 20 mins each. Used to be six comedians but I get why four as it helps with timing + keeping tickets to £10.
Suggestion would be: merch! Also franchising - I think this format could work in other parts of Oxford (e.g. Cape of Good Hope on Cowley road) or in Witney / Banbury / Reading).
