Nestled at 37-38 Little Clarendon Street, Jericho Comedy is Oxford's independent, award-winning comedy club, celebrated for its electric atmosphere and consistently strong line-ups. Recognised by the Chortle Awards as one of the top comedy nights in the UK for both 2019 and 2020, and recommended by The Sunday Times, this an ideal spot for an evening of laughter. Shows often feature a mix of acclaimed TV comedians and the most exciting emerging talent from across the circuit, ensuring a fresh and dynamic experience with every visit. Many performances take place at the super cool Common Ground, a community hub and arts space, offering a uniquely Oxford night out. Beyond their regular club nights, Jericho Comedy also presents themed shows, including science comedy and murder mysteries, often in unconventional venues like museums.
Known for its sell-out Saturday showcases, Jericho Comedy offers both early and late performances, making it easy to fit into your Oxford itinerary. The club is hosted by the "razor-witted comedic maestro" Alex Farrow, who ensures audiences are warmed up and ready for a night of diverse comedic styles. Significantly, Jericho Comedy has a strong commitment to the community, having raised over £168,000 for the local mental health charity Oxfordshire Mind through their events since 2015. With a friendly vibe and a reputation for quality entertainment that has even been featured on BBC Radio 4's "The Circuit," it's a fantastic choice for visitors seeking top-tier stand-up and a memorable night out.

They raised a few laughs between them, which was the point I guess, so that's a success!
What wasn't so good was the overall look, feel and cleanliness of the venue. It was grubby at best and someone should spend time giving it a clean as I'd like to come back
A marked contrast to how Jongleurs used to be ad nauseum + 'crush the hecklers'. Even the comedians say what a lovely audience it is!
Format: 18:15 for 18:30 sit down (be early... or front row!) I turned up at 7pm and they had a seat... although it usually sells out.
There is then usually an MC (Alex) and four comedians do about 20 mins each. Used to be six comedians but I get why four as it helps with timing + keeping tickets to £10.
Suggestion would be: merch! Also franchising - I think this format could work in other parts of Oxford (e.g. Cape of Good Hope on Cowley road) or in Witney / Banbury / Reading).
