Found on the banks of the River Thames, Meadow Lane Skate Park is a large, free-to-use facility designed and built by Wheelscape in 2013, the result of a long campaign by the Oxford Wheels Project. It boasts smooth, fast surfaces suitable for both beginners and experienced skaters, featuring distinct street and transition sections. The street area includes a bowled edge, stair set with a rail, a flat bank, a roll-over with an adjoining pyramid, a kicker gap, and a driveway. A long bowled edge with extensions runs alongside this section, finishing with a hipped flat bank and more stairs. The park is open daily from 10 am until dusk, though it may close during wet or icy weather, so it's wise to check before travelling.
The park's huge bowl is a standout feature, split into two halves by a spine, a roll-over, and a volcano at one end. This bowl has various depths, extensions around the edges, and a speed bowl in one corner with concrete pool coping, offering plenty of bumps and corners for pumping around without needing to push. Managed by the Oxford Wheels Project, a registered charity, the park also provides skateboard, BMX, and graffiti facilities. They offer Sunday morning skateboard coaching and Saturday morning BMX coaching, with sessions available for beginners and improvers – booking is recommended. Scooters are not permitted in the park.
