Details

Oxford Town Hall's imposing Victorian Gothic facade, complete with intricate stone carvings and a prominent clock tower, has been a St Aldate's landmark since its completion in 1897. Designed by Henry T. Hare, this Grade II* listed building is actually the third municipal seat on this historic site, replacing an 18th-century structure. Inside, the grandeur continues with ornate ceilings, sparkling chandeliers, and impressive stained glass windows adorning spaces like the Main Hall and Assembly Room. Rich wood panelling and historical portraits further enhance the opulent atmosphere. Beyond its function as the seat of Oxford City Council, the Town Hall also houses the Museum of Oxford, offering insights into the city's long and fascinating history.

More than just a beautiful civic building, Oxford Town Hall serves as a vibrant cultural and community hub. Its historic rooms, including a former courtroom and the magnificent Council Chamber, regularly host a diverse array of events. Imagine attending a classical concert where the sounds of the impressive Father Willis organ fill the Main Hall, or enjoying a community gathering, art exhibition, or even a wedding in such distinguished surroundings. The building has even seen the likes of The Rolling Stones and David Bowie grace its stage. Whether you're attending a specific event, exploring the Museum of Oxford, or simply admiring its architecture, the Town Hall offers a unique glimpse into the civic and cultural heart of the city.

Attended the candlelit concert by Fever with songs from coldplay. Neither of us have been to any kind of experience like this and thoroughly enjoyed it. The town hall is beautiful inside and was such a lovely venue for the event.
