Pasta - I feel robbed. Been coming here for years the fasta pasta. They used to offer a few different choices and sizes at reasonable prices. Now they have one size, one price which is the absolute definition of shrinkflation. A tiny bowl of pasta, barely any sauce whatsoever (less than one ladle of sauce) for £9. Absolute rip off. We told a member of staff (who said he would raise it) we wouldn't be coming back after being loyal all these years. I wouldn't have minded if you had just raised the prices slightly in line with the rest of the world but this is an insult to your local customer.

I imagine myself a student at Oxford, hungry with friends, finding a place to debate the paper I'm writing. Taylors in the Covered Market is a perfect place. Food at reasonable prices. A wide range of food - samosas to sandwiches to paninis and dessert as well. Great coffee. What more can you ask?

Now there are plenty of these types of joints in the Covered Market showing plenty of demand from the locals. Taylors and those alike define the quintessential way of living at Oxford. And as a tourist visiting, done all-day walking of Christ Church and the main campus, Covered Market is a haven.

As a visitor, please go to the Covered Market and experience Oxford the way it was meant to. Group tours will never bring you here (as it is crammed). But without Taylors and those alike, the Oxford experience is incomplete.

Food can be better. But it deserves a 5 stars for everything else.

This cafe serves freshly made, crisp flatbreads with a combination of fillings. Though there wasn’t a wide selection, the ingredients were fresh and of good quality. On request, they were also kind to accommodate for food intolerances and make amendments to the original fillings of their sandwiches. They were nicely layered, but after removing the cheese I felt there wasn’t actually lot within the flatbread. Regardless it was enjoyable.

What I found special about their menu was the different combo options available. If you come here before noon, you can get one of their selected breakfast baps + drink for a set price. And if you ordered a hot drink if the afternoon, it came with a cookie. It’s nice to know that they serve a wholesome breakfast and snack options for different occasions. I think they’re able to accommodate for dairy allergies, but with the limited space and so much of their menu has wheat food options may be limited for those with coeliac disease or gluten intolerances.

Even though this place was very busy when we went, the servers were very attentive to our needs. I got the name of 2 of their flatbreads mixed up and the server patiently explained what they had, even letting me have a look at the names again while holding my spot.

Because it was in the covered market, it was not as accessible and tends to get quite crowded, so it tends get really loud alongside the music playing overhead. Tables were also a bit small and may not be as comfortable or cozy to sit or work in. It’s a nice social hangout spot regardless and an enjoyable time.

Food was okay.
We paid for eat in but then we needed to use our own wet wipes to clean the table which was super full of crumbs and bit of food.

They have a sign that after two pm you get a cookie with any hot drink, no ifs and no buts, but when we bought coffee after our meal they gave us an excuse and charged for the cookie as well.
Avoid.
