Harrison's Fish & Chips, nestled on Elms Parade in Oxford, offers a true taste of traditional British takeaway, distinguished by its dedication to quality and service. This family-run establishment provides a straightforward and unpretentious setting, making it a firm favourite among both locals and visitors. Regularly recognised in the prestigious National Fish & Chip Awards, even being named among the UK's best takeaways, it stands out as a top-tier chippy, proudly representing Oxfordshire despite the county being landlocked. I can see why Harrison’s are considered the number 1 chippy in Oxford! Definitely deserving of the awards!

I tried the cheese box (battered halloumi, mozzarella sticks and macaroni cheese bites). All of it was good, the mozz and mac would have been a big miss at most takeaway joints so it was refreshing to get decent ones here! Not many chippies do battered halloumi at all never mind good ones (I only know of one other in Oxon nearer to me), so that also wins brownie points with me

Service was good, premises well maintained. Can’t fault it really. Already planning another visit soon to try something fish based - question is… do I go for my traditional fish burger? Or try one of the more exotic choice of fish on offer such as the NZ or Norwegian ones? 🤔 something you don’t usually see in British chippies!

Even the Cornish variety on offer is huge and I know nothing beyond cod, haddock and plaice! So I’ll definitely need to ask the staff to guide me. Something I can be assured they’re experts at, based on my own observations and other people’s reviews

Following this glowing review I gave, I have now recommended this place to a few of my friends

Keep up the good work!

What a little gem we are lucky to have. Range of different fish to choose from, their source is clearly labelled. Always well cooked with generous portions of big fluffy but crispy chips. Secret find: battered sausage!

Travelling up from London to Cheshire, a lunch stop was definitely needed, and Harrison's Fish & Chips turned out to be an excellent choice. The Cornish haddock was beautifully thick and cooked to perfection, encased in a light, crispy batter that delivered on both texture and flavour. The large Cornish cod was equally impressive in size and enjoyed the same wonderfully crisp and tasty batter.

The chips were hearty, thick-cut, and cooked just right, while the mushy peas were exactly to my taste – thick with a subtle, well-balanced flavour. The tartare sauce was a real highlight, ranking among the best I have ever had.

The shop itself was spotless and well-maintained, with a clear sense of pride shown by the friendly and welcoming staff. The packaging was thoughtfully designed and environmentally friendly, which is always good to see. Conveniently, there was ample parking available both at the front and rear of the shop, making the visit all the more pleasant.

This is a great fish and chip shop, The lady serving was very polite and well mannered. I couldn't ask for more in terms of service.
The fish was one of the best I've had, I could tell it was fresh, almost as if I was eating seaside fish.
The chips were great also, the only downside was the amount of thin sliced hard chips.
The peas tasted as peas should and were not overloaded with sugar or neon green looking.
Great shop, I will be sure to visit again.
Thanks
