The first thing that hits you is the décor. Fairy lights everywhere, hanging swing seats, and a warm, slightly chaotic energy that feels more like a friend's garden party than a restaurant. It's loud in the best way. Not a place for a quiet, whispered conversation, but perfect for catching up with a group over a table crowded with small plates.
We went in not really knowing how to order, and that turned out to be half the fun. The menu is built around Indian street food, tiffin-style sharing dishes rather than the usual starter-main-dessert format. We ended up with the chicken, keema, pao bhaji, tamarind fries, and a bowl of dahl, all landing on the table within minutes of each other. Everything was fresh, punchy, and clearly not aiming for the safe, familiar curry-house flavours.
Service was genuinely warm without being overbearing, our waiter talked us through the dishes without making us feel rushed, even though the place was packed.
Between the food, the atmosphere, and the view over Oxford's rooftops, it's an easy place to recommend, especially for a group night out rather than a quiet dinner for two.
Would definitely recommend must try the chats next time.
