Part of the area is managed by the Urban Wildlife Trust as a nature reserve, contributing to the local natural recovery plan and supporting various wildlife.

Jon Willis is a very rude and ignorant person who manages East Ward Allotments affairs. He contacted the local accountants to form a limited by guarantee company "East Ward Allotments" and instead of providing legally required documents such as ID/Passport, proof of address, provided his own passport size picture and argued over the phone that this is the right document, and should be accepted as form of ID. He started shouting over the phone when tried to explain the legal requirements. He can not even differentiate between Passport Picture and Passport. Stay away from this person especially if you are dealing with him in a professional capacity... very bad experience of dealing with him.

These allotments get better year in year. They're permissive yet well-run. Good plot sizes too

A good association and friendly community to be found here, I have been here a few years now and enjoyed my time here. Having an allotment is hard work but the rewards you get from that work is immensely pleasing

If you have an allotment there it is a great place to be when you want time alone and to get dirty.
