!!! DO NOT STAY HERE !!!

My girlfriend and I booked this place thinking it would be a clean and safe place to sleep and leave our belongings. We weren’t expecting much. What we experienced was beyond disappointing.

When we arrived, my girlfriend went inside to check us in while I waited outside with our bags. She was filling out the paperwork in the restaurant adjoining the hotel when the man checking her in asked what her shoe size was. Confused, she answered, “seven and a half,” to which he responded, “Oh great, I have a foot fetish.”

Pretty disgusting comment and completely inappropriate behaviour, especially considering that from his perspective she appeared to be a woman travelling alone.

Next, we went to our room and found a dead bug on the bed, which was gross enough. Then I plugged my phone charger into an outlet and it sparked and tripped the breaker for the entire floor. We let the front desk/restaurant know, and a line cook came out to reset the breakers.

After that, I went to use the washroom and realized it wasn’t actually part of the unit but was across the hall. To be fair, this was disclosed in the listing and we should have noticed it before booking. However, there was no key or way to secure the washroom for our private use when we weren’t inside it. Anyone could seemingly use it, with the only indication that it belonged to our room being a paper sign saying “Private for Room 8.” On top of that, it was a tiny washroom with what appeared to be a significant amount of mold and mildew.

We decided pretty quickly that we would not be spending the night there.

We asked for a refund and were told that because we booked through a third-party site, we needed to follow up with them. We did, and they told us they would contact the Jericho and request a refund on our behalf. The Jericho refused the request.

We weren’t expecting anything fancy. We just expected somewhere clean, safe, and reasonably professional to spend the night. Between the wildly inappropriate comment made to my girlfriend at check-in, the condition of the room and bathroom, the electrical issue, and then refusing to refund us when we decided we did not feel comfortable staying there, I cannot recommend this place.

I would strongly advise staying somewhere else. Would give negative stars if possible.

A very tidy functional hotel.
The staff were very polite and efficient.
The only niggle was the TV struggled to keep a good signal so was a bit patchy reception.

Can not fault this place - the management are amazing - the place is 5 min walk from center of Oxford. It’s not the Ritz - it does not pretend to be - it’s perfect for price, location and staff. Great stay - will be back soon!!

this is certainly not a fancy place and the price you are paying is for the location and some space for yourself, unlike hostels. the furniture is not clean and extremely outdated, there is no air conditioning in the rooms or bathroom in fact so there is constant humidity, mould, and smell. they ask you to fill a form where there is a line for your passport number – I am not sure that is legal to ask for. no reception, no service, no meals available, apart from the lebanese restaurant just beside the hotel but later is not that much of an issue since the hotel is 10 min walk to the city center. they do get you ironing, fan, and a hair dryer which is nice.

overall, I would not suggest staying here for longer then a night but it may be a fine option for its price if you would prefer not to stay at a hostel and would like a convenient location.

This was the worst hotel I've stayed in. Check-in was in the Lebanese restaurant next-door and the poor waiter couldn't help us with parking.
We booked this place because Google stated it had free parking (a huge plus in Oxford!!), and when we asked the hotel for confirmation they emailed to say they had 5 spaces plus another 8 only 30 seconds away. Well, that was a blatant lie. The owner confirmed they'd sent the email but didn't actually have any parking spaces.
We ended up finding ourselves somewhere to park a 15 minute walk away for another £50 for 38 hours.
The rooms are all upstairs with no lift (which we half expected). The rooms are dated, but are actually on the larger size. The bathroom was tiny though, and definitely needed a good clean. There was mould in the shower, plus dirt and hairs on the walls and ceiling. It looked like it had recently been re-tiled but done in a slap-dash fashion, with grout uneven and splashed on a few other surfaces. The toilet seat was cracked and had been glued back together at some stage, and the shower curtain rail was broken and being held up with a bit of rope. The shower itself had very little water pressure (and needed replacing) despite the tap in the sink having almost too much water pressure!!
The beds were somehow both too soft and too hard at the same time, and I found a few strange hairs in my bed when we first got there.
No air-conditioning but there was a desk fan that could be pointed at the beds, so that was a nice touch, as was the mini fridge.
Only a short walk to Jericho and about 15 minutes into Oxford itself, so the location itself is great.
There is NO breakfast or 24-hour room service despite what Google states.
With what we ended up paying for in parking, we could've got a much better hotel that included parking, breakfast, a decent bed and better service.
