Room:
The room that I stayed in was unique and exuded the 17th century character. If you want everything modern this probably isn't the place for you.
We were very close to the pub and so it can be noisy. We also stayed during graduation/formal and so the surrounding area could have a party going on. (Late June timeframe)
Other than the noise, it was great having the pub on the premises when I needed supper and didn't feel like going far. The pub is fantastic. You can place your orders online and the food arrives at the table within minutes. The portion was huge.
Staff is very friendly, continental breakfast good.
Room, not so much. Obviously unmaintained, fissures in the wall, bathroom mirror askew and loose, ripped curtain, knob of the bedside table fell off, incredibly hot in summer temperatures, small window opens only half and allows for not much fresh air. Water from the shower only dripping.
Cobwebs in the staircase (17th century, more like a ladder), a dog in the kitchen.
Right below the room window the famous Turf Tavern, i.e. If you stay in the room you can participate in all of their guest's conversations from noon till well past 11pm.
tl;dr: the few good aspects are definitely not worth the hassle plus a minimum of over 200£ per night
