The hosts provided a standing fan as the weather was hot when we visited. The room did get quite stuffy at night. We had to keep the windows open for ventilation, but this room is right opposite a picnic table, parking area & a gateway, so there was a lot of people movement & groups chatting away late into the night, drinking & smoking right outside the door & windows. There wasn't much privacy or quietness.
Parking is very tight if you have a big car. We had a 7-seater and there is no designated parking space for each room separately. You just park wherever you find a vacant lot. After the first two nights struggling to park our car, the hosts allowed us to park next door but getting into and off the street is also tricky as nearly half the street is taken up by bicycle lanes and there is single lane traffic queuing up on both sides of the road.
The toilet seat (loose and lopsided) and bathroom extractor fan (not turning) in this room need fixing. Also it would help if a box of tissues and a kitchen towel roll were provided to mop around the kitchen sink after we washed the dishes.
Getting into Oxford was easy - we used the nearby park & ride facility which gives a free return bus ride to the city centre for up to 2 adults & 3 children in exchange for parking your car for a very cheap price of £2.50 for 16 hours!
There are many eateries & restaurants within a 15 minute walking distance from the guest house. Don't miss the "Headington Shark" on this walk or the Lye Valley nature reserve right on the doorstep.
